About me

I translate patent applications and other information related to molecular biology, biotechnology, genetics, biochemistry, organic chemistry and similar fields.   I also can translate information related to classical and jazz music.  I specialize in Japanese-English translation but also can translate between Norwegian and Japanese or Norwegian and English.

I have been working as a full-time, in-house Japanese-English patent translator for the past 5 years.  In my company, I'm in charge of patent applications related to molecular biology and genetics but also specialize in other biological and chemical fields.

I have passed the Japanese Proficiency Test (Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken) Level 1 (the highest level) and have lived in Japan for about 10 years.   My Japanese wife can assist me with translations if necessary.

I'm proficient in Norwegian language as I was an exchange student for one year in Norway.  I frequently read Norwegian books and websites, watch Norwegian television programs and movies and chat in Norwegian with Norwegian friends via Skype.

I have 2 years of experience as an environmental laboratory technician for The Alaska Department Of Environmental Conservation (ADEC).  My responsibilities for ADEC included gas chromatographic analysis of drinking water for organic contaminants.

I have a B.S. in biology and deep and broad knowledge of music, including classical and jazz theory and history.
